This guide explains how to install NxGen Addons manually using FTP. This method is recommended if:
- The WordPress ZIP upload fails
- Your hosting environment has strict upload limits
- You prefer direct file control
- You manage client servers or staging environments
This process requires access to your hosting account and FTP credentials.
Before You Begin #
You will need:
- The NxGen Addons plugin ZIP file
- An FTP client such as FileZilla
- Your FTP hostname, username, and password
- Access to your WordPress root directory
If you are unsure where your WordPress files are located, contact your hosting provider.
Step 1: Extract the Plugin ZIP File #
Unlike the dashboard method, this process requires you to unzip the file first.
- Locate the downloaded NxGen Addons
.zipfile - Right-click and select Extract
- Confirm that a folder named something like
nxgen-addonsappears
Do not rename the folder unless specifically instructed.
Step 2: Connect to Your Server via FTP #
- Open your FTP client
- Enter your FTP credentials
- Connect to your server
Once connected, navigate to:
/public_html/wp-content/plugins/
Depending on your host, your root directory may be labeled slightly differently.
Step 3: Upload the Plugin Folder #
- Locate the extracted
nxgen-addonsfolder on your computer - Drag and drop the entire folder into the
/wp-content/plugins/directory
Wait for the upload to complete fully before proceeding. Large files may take several minutes.
Do not upload the ZIP file directly into this directory. It must be the extracted folder.
Step 4: Activate the Plugin in WordPress #
Once the upload finishes:
- Log into your WordPress dashboard
- Navigate to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Locate NxGen Addons
- Click Activate
The plugin should now be active.
Step 5: Confirm Successful Installation #
After activation:
- Check that NxGen Addons appears in the admin sidebar
- Confirm the version number in the plugin settings
- Open Elementor and verify that NxGen widgets are visible
If widgets are not appearing, refresh the page and clear your browser cache.
